Oct 3 8:11 AM Adult flying from nest area to Lightouse lake
Again, we saw this adult flying the direct route between the P Pines nest area to the large lake in Sunset Lakes. Anyone around the area might check to see if the eagles are roosting on the lighthouse.

The proposal for a nest camera was developed, but no funding source has been obtained over a three year period. Construction must start after the end of nesting season (May 1), and end before the breeding season officially commences October 1.
Sad thing is that there is power and a step-down transformer on the pole that connects with the electric distribution lines right in front of the nest, and cable service is provided within 100 yards. There is also a broadband communication distribution line running under the power lines, so the necessary services for internet connection should be readily available.
FP&L and Comcast/NBC6 or AT&T might some day agree to provide service lines and web hosting at a marginal cost. It could have been a valuable educational and community service as well as provide publicity and advertising on the web site. Material costs are not that great-- a camera and installation would run no much more than $10K plus operating costs (mostly for electricity and broadband). This FORUM page has had nearly 80,000 hits as of today. Just think how popular the nest would be if it could be watched over the internet.
